P2299: Brake pedal and accelerator pedal positions incompatible

The ECU saw the brake and accelerator pressed together and cut power for safety. It may be driving style or a faulty pedal sensor.

What P2299 means

For safety, if the ECU sees the brake pedal pressed while the accelerator is also pressed, it cuts or reduces engine power so the brakes win. This code is stored when that happens. It can come from pressing both pedals at once (for example, braking with the left foot) or from a sensor sending a false signal.

How to check it

First make sure the floor mat is not touching the pedals. With your reader, watch the brake switch status and accelerator position live: releasing the brake should change its state and the accelerator should read zero when not pressed. Ask someone to check the brake lights go off when you lift your foot.
