This is an English translation, here to make things easier to read. If there is any difference, the Spanish version is the one that applies.
In short. The website collects nothing about you: no cookies, no analytics, no forms. The app, only if you allow it, sends technical data so it works better with more cars. Never your contacts, your exact location, the IMEI or the advertising ID. The data is stored on our own servers inside the European Union and is never sold to anyone.

The website
finalobd.com is a static website: it has no forms, no accounts and no analytics, and it sets no cookies. Like any server, the one hosting it keeps a technical log of each visit (IP address, date and time, page requested and browser). That log is only used to keep the website secure and running, it isn’t combined with anything and it is deleted regularly. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in protecting the website (article 6.1.f of the GDPR).
If you email us, we use your address and whatever you tell us only to reply to you.
The Final OBD app
What follows applies equally to the Android app and the iPhone app.
What stays on your phone
Car readings, faults, charts, CSV logs, PDF reports and your settings are stored on your phone. They don’t leave it unless you share them.
What is sent, only with your permission
The first time you open the app, it asks whether you want to contribute. If you say yes, it sends the data below. If you say no, it works just the same and sends none of it:

With your permission, the app also asks the server for the list for its model: what fails and what has already been proven on cars like yours. To do that it only sends the first 8 characters of the VIN, which give the make and model.
The IP address is not stored with the data the app sends: it only stays, as with any visit, in the server’s technical log, which is used for security and deleted regularly. The VIN characters that are sent identify the model, not its owner, but we treat them as personal data just in case: we don’t match them against vehicle registers or anything else that could identify you.
When you tell us something is wrong
If you tap "This is wrong", the app sends your note, a screenshot and the technical log of the last few minutes, even if you haven’t agreed to contribute, because you are sending it on purpose. Nothing else.
What is never collected
- Contacts, photos, messages or any other content on your phone.
- Your exact location. GPS is only used for the timers, on the phone, and is never sent.
- The IMEI, your phone number or the advertising ID.
- Payment details: Google Play and the App Store handle them and we never see them.
Legal basis and how long
Sending technical data is based on your consent (article 6.1.a of the GDPR) and you can withdraw it whenever you like by turning off Contribute in Settings. Checking your purchase is based on the contract you enter into when you buy Pro or Workshop (article 6.1.b). We keep the data for as long as it helps improve the app. In Settings, the "Delete what was sent" button immediately deletes everything that has arrived from your installation, including what had been added to your model’s statistics, and the app switches to a new number. You can also ask us by email.
Where it’s stored and who sees it
On our own servers hosted in the European Union. It isn’t sold, rented or passed on to anyone for advertising. It would only be disclosed to an authority if the law requires it. Google and Apple process your purchase data as independent controllers, under their own privacy policies.
Permissions the app asks for
- Bluetooth, to find the OBD reader and talk to it. It isn’t used to work out where you are.
- Location, for the GPS timers. If you don’t allow it, everything else works just the same.
- Notifications, to let you know the car is being read.
- Foreground service (on Android), so the connection to the car doesn’t drop when the screen turns off.
Your rights
You can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, take it with you, restrict its use or object to it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Write to info@finalobd.com saying what you’d like; if it’s about the app’s data, include the installation key shown in Settings, under Contribute, so we can find it. We reply within a month.
If you think we haven’t handled it properly, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es) or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Final OBD isn’t intended for children under 14 and doesn’t knowingly collect data about them.
Changes
If anything important changes in how we handle data, we’ll post it here with a date and, if needed, the app will ask for your permission again.
