P0111: Intake air temperature sensor range or performance
The intake air temperature sensor gives readings that do not agree with the other sensors. Usually the sensor itself or it is out of position.

What P0111 means
The signal arrives, but the ECU does not believe it. For example, with the engine cold it compares intake air temperature with coolant and outside temperature, which should be similar, or it expects the reading to change as you drive and it does not. If it is too far off, this code is stored.
Most common causes
- The sensor itself has drifted or aged
- Sensor coated in oil or dust, so it responds slowly
- Sensor out of position or out of its housing
- Corroded connector skewing the reading
- Another temperature sensor reading wrong, so the comparison fails
Symptoms
- Engine warning light on
- Slightly poorer cold starting
- Slight rise in fuel consumption
- Often no noticeable symptoms

Yes, no rush The engine usually runs almost normally. You can keep driving and have it looked at when convenient.
How to check it
After standing overnight, switch the ignition on and compare intake air, coolant and outside temperatures in live data: they should be within a few degrees. If only the intake reading is off, the sensor is the suspect.
