P0114: Intake air temperature sensor circuit intermittent
The intake air temperature sensor signal drops out or jumps now and then. It is almost always a loose connector or a wire with a poor contact.

What P0114 means
The temperature of the air entering the engine changes gradually, so if the signal jumps suddenly or vanishes, the ECU knows it is not real and stores this code. Intermittent faults are usually contact problems that show up with vibration, heat or damp.
Most common causes
- Loose connector on the sensor (or on the air flow sensor if built in), or spread pins
- Corrosion or moisture inside the connector
- A wire broken inside its insulation making contact on and off
- A loose earth
- The sensor itself with an intermittent internal fault
Symptoms
- Engine warning light coming and going
- Occasional slight jerking
- Often no noticeable symptoms

How to check it
With the engine idling and intake air temperature on screen, gently wiggle the sensor connector and wiring. If the reading jumps suddenly as you move them, you have found the poor contact.
