P0530: A/C refrigerant pressure sensor: circuit fault
The engine computer is not getting a sensible signal from the air conditioning pressure sensor. Usually the plug, the wiring or the sensor itself.

What P0530 means
The pressure sensor tells the ECU how much pressure there is in the air conditioning gas, so it can switch the compressor and cooling fan on or off. This code means that signal is missing or makes no sense. To protect the system, the air conditioning will usually stop working.
Most common causes
- Sensor plug loose, dirty or corroded
- Sensor wire broken, chafed or rubbing against another part
- Faulty pressure sensor
- Very low refrigerant charge or an empty system due to a leak
- Problem with the sensor’s reference supply or earth
Symptoms
- Engine warning light on
- Air conditioning not cooling or cutting out now and then
- Radiator fan running at odd times or all the time
Can you drive with P0530?
Yes, no rush The engine itself is not affected, so you can drive normally. You will most likely be without air conditioning until it is fixed.
How to check it
With a scan tool, watch the live A/C pressure reading with the engine off: it should show a plausible value, not zero or the maximum. If it jumps when you wiggle the plug, the fault is in the wiring.
