P0193: Fuel rail pressure sensor circuit high

The ECU sees a voltage that is too high from the rail pressure sensor. Usually a broken ground wire, a loose connector or a failed sensor.

What P0193 means

High input means the sensor voltage is above what is possible, as if the pressure were higher than the system can produce. It is almost always an electrical fault, often an open circuit in the sensor ground. The ECU usually limits power because it cannot trust the reading.

Most common causes

  • Loose, corroded or unplugged sensor connector
  • Broken sensor ground wire
  • Signal wire touching a positive feed
  • Faulty fuel rail pressure sensor
  • ECU fault (rare)

How to check it

With the ignition on and the engine off, look at rail pressure on the reader: a very high value without the engine having turned means the signal is wrong. Check the connector and the sensor ground wire.
