P2197: Oxygen sensor signal biased or stuck lean (bank 2, sensor 1)
The bank 2 oxygen sensor before the catalyst reads lean and will not respond. It may be the sensor or an air leak on that side.

What P2197 means
On engines with two banks, the sensor ahead of the catalytic converter on bank 2 keeps reading lean (a lot of oxygen) even when the ECU adds fuel. Bank 2 is the side opposite cylinder 1. Either the sensor is faulty or air really is getting in, or fuel is short on that side.
Most common causes
- Exhaust leak ahead of the bank 2 sensor
- Intake air leak on the bank 2 side
- Worn or contaminated oxygen sensor
- Damaged sensor wiring or connector
- Dirty bank 2 injectors
- Low fuel pressure (if bank 1 reads lean too)
Symptoms
- Engine warning light on
- Rough idle
- Lack of power
- Fuel consumption slightly off

How to check it
Compare both sensor 1 signals live. If bank 2 stays flat on lean while bank 1 switches, and a quick throttle blip gets no reaction, the sensor is the likely fault; if it reacts, look for a leak on that side.
