P0200: Injector circuit malfunction

The ECU has found an electrical fault in the injector circuit without naming a specific cylinder. Often a fuse, a relay or the shared wiring.

What P0200 means

Each injector opens and closes on an electrical signal from the ECU. This general code says something is wrong in that circuit without saying which cylinder. The fault is often in a part shared by all injectors, such as their power supply, and it usually comes with other more specific codes.

Most common causes

  • Blown fuse or faulty injector supply relay
  • Loose or corroded connector on one of the injectors
  • Injector wiring harness damaged by rubbing or heat
  • One or more injectors with a failed coil
  • Fault in the driver circuit inside the ECU

Symptoms

  • Engine warning light on
  • Engine shaking or running unevenly
  • Loss of power
  • Hard starting or no start

Can you drive with P0200?

With care If the engine runs smoothly you can drive carefully to a garage. If it shakes badly, loses power or the warning light flashes, stop driving to avoid damaging the engine or the catalytic converter.

How to check it

Read all stored codes, not just this one: injector or misfire codes for a specific cylinder (P0201 to P0208, P0301 to P0308) show where to start. Also check the injector fuse in the fuse box.
